A shot of the bronze high scaler statue, in the likeness of Joe Kine, one of the last surviving high scalers who worked on the Hover Dam project.  The new bypass in the background.

Patsy is smiling because we are going to Viva Elvis Cirque du Soleil  at the Aria Resort and Casino in Vegas.  She has been crazy over Elvis from a very young age.  She has had every 45 and albums of Elvis'.  We are dining at the Jean Georges Steakhouse at the Aria before the show.

Here is proof of snow in Bisbee, in the southern part of Arizona, which is next to the Mexican border!  The mountains in the background were white with snow.  A very an unusual sight in this part of Arizona.

A sign posted on the outside of a saloon in Tombstone, Arizona lol!

365:79

While in Bisbee, Jillian and I toured the Queen Copper Mine, which was an amazing experience!

365:78

Jillian and I took a road trip to the southern part of the state of Arizona.  We visited Tucson, Tombstone, and Bisbee.  Bisbee is next to the Mexican border, even so, we ran into a snow storm and cold weather during our tour!

This turned out to be a self-portrait shot lol, which was taken inside the Copper Queen Hotel's dining room in Bisbee, AZ.  The stain glass top of the hall stand was taken from the original door of the hotel. Breakfast was cooked to perfection!

My favorite son-in-law Roderick has a beautiful rose garden.  This is one of the his most perfumed roses in his garden.  I wish you could smell!

Jillian picked me up last night after her classes and we went to Oregano's Pizza Bistro near the ASU Campus.  Chicago-style Pizza bistro was too delicious, as Jillian almost had to carry me out due to overeating!!!

We started off with the calamari as an appetizer, which could have been an entree, due to the amount of the serving!  The second course was a caesar salad, which was big enough for 4 people!!  Third was a pasta dish with the most delicious spicy sausage I ever tasted!!  Jillian did not want dessert, but after seeing the server carrying one by our table, I needed to try one.  It was called 'The Original Pizza Cookie Dessert'.  The dessert was a hugh, warm, gooey, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream, yummy!!!

Would I recommend this bistro?  No, if you are on a diet lol!

Needless to say we did have a take-home box, which I finished it for lunch today.

Jillian suggested that if you order an appetizer, do not have dessert!

This photo reminds me of the 60's (now I am telling my age).  I remember using those wine bottles as candle holders.  We would take a taper and stick it in the bottle and let the wax drip over the bottle.  After a few different color candles burnt down, you would have a lovely work of art.

I am playing catchup today, as I am behind in posting my picture of the day.

English plural for cactus is cactuses or cacti, but Arizonians just say cactus for singular or plural.  Whatever they are called, I love the variety of cactus in Arizona.  I took this shot while waiting for the trolly in Old Scottsdale.

While at the Scottsdale Arts Festival I found a ceramic artist, Randy O'Brien, whose work I was drawn to by the way he used colors on his ceramics.  Now I have one of his cups, which I will try out in a few hours for my morning coffee :)

This photo was taken at the Scottsdale Arts Festival today and was made by machine artist Carl Zachmann.

"My kinetic sculptures explore the designs and texture of our industrial past.  The raw and painted steel gears are put in motion and set against a static background of found metal that gives homage to the Industrial Revolution in an increasingly electronic world."     --Carl.

This photo is one of the walkways at the ASU Gammage.  The Gammage was one of Frank Lloyd Wright's last designs.  The Gammage is a beautiful designed theater, which seats 3,000.  I would love to take photographs during the day with something other than my iPhone.

I attended the showing of the Broadway musical Wicked tonight and it was Fabulous!!!!  The lighting, set design, special effects, and costumes were dazzling.  I only have one complaint, which is the next time I will pay more money and get seats that are not in the nose bleed section.  I was in the second last row in the balcony.  I would love to see it again sometime, but I want to be closer so I can see the actors expressions.  IMHO Alli Mauzey's performance was spectacular, she played Glinda the good witch.

365:65 (only 300 more)!

I attended the National Anne Frank Exhibit tonight in Chandler, AZ.  The exhibit comes from the Anne Frank House in the Netherlands.  Anne Frank's traveling exhibition juxtaposes pics of the Frank family with the historical events during the Nazi rein of Germany.  Hugh panels of a photographical timeline detailing Anne Frank's life and the history of the Holocaust.  It describes how the Frank's were affected by the political decisions and actions of individuals.

This pic is of Anne's first diary, which she received for her thirteenth birthday (actually I was not allowed to take pictures, but I thought it would be better to ask forgiveness rather than permission).  The photo in the diary is of Anne Frank.

After viewing the exhibit, I was struck by the fact that many people today deny that the Holocaust never happened...how can one deny such atrocities is beyond my comprehension!!!

Thanks to Roderick, my favorite son-in-law, who let me use his car while he is in Vegas, I went to see 'The Iron Lady' tonight.  Meryl Streep's performance was flawless IMHO!!  The movie itself not so much!

Jillian arrived at my door this a.m. with a box of BoSa donuts, which I have been craving since she told me about them last month.  Tonight this is all that remains!!  They are the best donuts in town, just like they advertise.  I especially liked the coconut donut, so yummy...thanks Jillian  :)

Last pic of my narcissus (Paperwhites) out on the balcony.   Also a plant that Jillian gave me when I arrived in Arizona.  The plant has 4 different plants and is growing quite well.
