Holy dust storm Batman!  Actually it is called a Haboob in Arizona, according to Jillian.  What ever it is called, this person did not leave the apartment today because of all the dust!  It was warm and windy today, a great day to get rested up for the rest of the week.  Stormed-stayed at home, only it is dust not snow!

Juniper, moon, and Venus are the brightest objects in the Arizona's night sky (Juniper top left, moon top right, and Venus bottom).  I wanted to capture this rare sight of an astronomical trio.  This photo is shot with iPhone Camera+, which does not lend itself to night photography very well.

After helping Jillian with a photo shoot for an ASU project, we had a delicious lunch at the Cheesecake Factory...one of my new favorite places!  After lunch, painting at Casa Ioerger's.

A few weeks ago I planted these "Paperwhites", which are in full bloom and the smell is wonderful!  In the background are 3 of 6 black & white photos that my daughter Jillian took with a film camera and developed herself (you really can not see them too well).  I will take another pic and post another day!

Larry bought me a new Schwinn bicycle today (I bought it he paid for it :)).  If you noticed the big 'S' on the seat, that is for Sider.  In Phoenix and area they developed the land alongside of the canals, which are for recreational use, such as biking, hiking, dog walking, etc..  The paths are approximately 40 miles long, some are concrete and others hard packed dirt & gravel.  I spent the evening checking out part of the  Western Canal pathways around the Tempe area, which was absolutely beautiful.  I biked along a golf course, beautiful scenery along the way, and I stopped at the Kiwanis Park at the Tempe Lake.  People were taking advantage of the beautiful  evening around the lake, by watching the ducks & birds, fishing, picnicking, etc... everybody and his dog were out this evening!

My favorite wine at the Scottsdale Waterfront Fine Art & Wine Tasting Festival.  This wine is a bit fruity, tangy, very easy to drink, and a smooth finish.  This wine has a nice freshness and would be a good anytime summer drink!

I attended the Scottsdale ArtWalk tonight, where the galleries open their doors to the public to show off the work of the Southwest's outstanding artists. I especially liked Shelley Muzylowski Allen's glass sculptures.  Art, wine & live music along the streets, what's not to love!!!

Celebrating Arizona's 100th birthday, Feb. 14, 1912-2012 with Secretary of State Ken Bennett.  This was taken after the historical walk from Phoenix City Hall to Phoenix Capitol.  The 48-star US flag, since Arizona was the 48th State to join, was carried by a number of people, me included.  Actually I think they lied about the 48 stars, as I only counted 45 stars!?!?

An appetizer sampler that we had while in Sedona last week at the Cowboy Club.  From left to right:  Green chili rattle snake meatballs, cactus fries, buffalo brochettes, and cilantro flatbread.  Yes, real rattle snake and buffalo!!  Yummy!  The dipping sauce is prickly pear, along with chipotle peanut butter.  Rattlesnake is much like chicken and the buffalo tastes like beef.
